Top 10 Weirdest Planets Ever Found

Top 10 Most insane Planets Ever found.

We all have fantasized living in a different world than ours. we all have thought about what it is like to be on a planet having so different organics than ours.welcome to our list of most insane planets ever found, Tighten your seat belts its gonna be bumpy ride.

Note:- All planets in this list are confirmed by NASA.

Let's Start with our number 10

10.J1407B(Super saturn)

Described as "SUPER SATURN' the Planet J1407B is like one big Optical Illusion.this planet is located 434 light-years away and has mass of about 40 times the size of Jupiter and has 37 rings surrounding it which span nearly 120 million kilometers(200 times the size of Saturn's rings).
However,These rings maybe the formations of moons-process which has never been observed outside the Solar system.

9.HD106906 b

This Exoplanet is one of the planets that shouldn't "Exist". According to our planetary laws.It contradicts nearly all the laws due to its size and distance from its star.
The giant planet is 650 times the distance from earth to the sun and is 11 times the size of Jupiter.
Despite of all the average surface temperature is staggering 1500 degree Celsius even being so distant from its Host star.

8.TrES-2b

The gas giant known as TrES-2b is the darkest planet ever found.
It is so dark that it barely reflects any light even less than the darkest acrylic paint.
It is just a distance of 3 million miles from its Host star and yet it is the Darkest planet ever found. The only red rings it makes which is due to burning of gases on the planet's surface.

7. 55 Cancri e

Just 40 Light Years from earth lies the planet which is heaven for Ladies because this planet is made up of diamond and graphite. 55 cancri e is twice as large as Earth but its mass is about 8 times than of earth this because of what it contains. this planet is made up of carbon and thanks to the extreme pressure and temperature maximum surface is covered with diamond.
but before you start packing with a drill let me tell you that even if you were able to get there and bring as much diamond as you can back to earth it will decrease the market value of diamond on earth resulting that you will be getting nothing.

6.Gliese 436 b

Gliese 436 b is a massive contradiction. The Neptune sized planet has a small rocky core, followed by the icy exterior which takes up the majority of its size.
On the top of that this planet has a huge hydrogen cloud around 50 times of size of planet surrounding it which leaves a trail from its orbit.
Furthermore, It has Temperature of around 439 degrees Celsius which is why it has been nicknamed as the "burning ice planet" and is slowly causing it to evaporate.

5. Gliese 1214 b

The steamy water world is "like no planet we know of" . A huge fraction of its mass is made up of water but it is not like the fictitious "Miller's planet" we saw in the movie "Interstellar".
This water world have deep oceans but at high temperatures and pressures so it could be an ocean of " superfluid water".

4.WASP-12b

WASP-12 b is the hottest exoplanet to be ever discovered with an average temperature temperature of 2250 degrees Celsius.
This is because it just orbits 2,115,000 miles away from its host star.1/44 times of distance from earth to sun and it just takes over a day to complete one revolution.
but it is slowly "being eaten up" by the star and is egg shaped.

3. WASP-17b

Wasp-17b is unique in the sense that it is the first planet ever found that orbits the opposite direction of its host star.
furthermore it is the second largest planet ever found but has the mass 1/2 of Jupiter.

2. HD 188753

HD 188753 is a first known planet to reside in a "Triple star system"
This means it orbits a star, which orbits a star, which orbits another star. (quite insane?)
This planet could be home to most beautiful sunsets/sunrises. A triple sunset could be so adorable to see.
It is the most complex planetary gravitation system ever found here is how its orbit looks like.

1. Gliese 581 c

Gliese 581 c hit the headlines when its discovery was announced in 2007.
The super earth a massive five times the size of our planet- was one of the first to be announced as a potentially hospitable planet.
However, life on it would not be as easy as it seems because it is a "Tidally locked planet" which means one side of it always faces its host star and the other remains in darkness so, life lies on the equator of these two zones.

So these were the 10 weirdest planets ever found....

but there is much more hidden in there in the infinite Universe.

Cassini:- The final Chapter

The Unmanned Iron Man:-Cassini

Its 22,April "The Earth Day" but where we are looking at? Right at the "Hero" which left the Earth years ago but still serving its home planet CASSINI.
Artist impression of Cassini orbiting the Saturn.
As we all know that Cassini was launched on October 15, 1997. it is a Flagship class NASA-ESA-ASI robotic spacecraft, the fourth space probe to visit Saturn and the first to enter its orbit. It has studied the planet and its moons since arriving in 2004 and has sent a lot data which has helped the astronomers to study about saturn and its moons, but after almost 20 years since its launch it is running out of Fuel. NASA/JPL surely has some plans to bid a heroic farewell. before moving on to the final chapter let's look for the accomplishments it achieved since these years.

What we have learnt?

Picture taken during Flyby

Image of Titan taken by Cassini.
  • Since its launch Cassini has made several Gravity-Assists flybys twice at Venus which helped it to gain momentum to cross the Asteroid belt and once with earth.
  • During its Jupiter flyby it sent around 26,000 images getting closest to the planet on December 30, 2000. it produced the most  etailed global color portrait of the planet yet.
  • A major finding of the flyby which came on March 6, 2003 was of Jupiter's atmospheric circulation. Dark "belts" alternate with Light "zones" in the atmosphere.
  • In total Cassini has discovered seven new moons orbiting Saturn namely Methone, Pallene, Polydeuces, Daphnis, Anthe, Aegaeon and S/2009 S 1.
  • On July 1, 2004 It Finally Managed to get in the Orbit of Saturn.
  • Detailed study of Saturn's largest Moon Titan, and it released  the Huygens probe on December 25, 2004.
  • Radio Occultations of Saturn's rings was performed in May, 2005
Cassini has been a Spectator of The Great Storm of 2010 and its Aftermaths and discovered that it was the largest, hottest Stratospheric Vortex ever detected in the solar system, Initially being larger than the Jupiter's Great Red spot.

Cassini:-Grand Finale

The final Mission Of Cassini is Planned For 20 Dive-ins into the Saturn's Inner Rings, once every Seven Days to study the untouched region of the rings then Entering into Saturn's Atmosphere on September 15, 2017. This method was chosen because it is Imperative to ensure protection and prevent biological contamination to any of the moons of Saturn thought to offer potential habitability.
SOON CASSINI WILL BE THE PART OF THE PLANET IT HAS OBSERVED SO KEENLY SINCE THESE YEARS.

STILL THERE ARE MANY DISCOVERIES TO MAKE. MANY TRUTHS LIE IN THE DARK MATTER. SO, KEEP EXPLORING...

Seven Wonders of space

The Seven Wonders:Trappist 1

The newly found trappist-1 System is definitely a wonder for what we call "Beyond our solar system discoveries". before going further lets check out some facts to know why all the astronomers all over the Globe are going mad over this discovery  .

TRAPPIST-1, also known as 2MASS J23062928-0502285, is an Ultra cool dwarf star that is slightly larger but much more massive than the planet Jupiter, Located 39.5 Light Years (12.1 pc) from the sun in the constellation AQUARIUS. The dwarf star has been shown to host seven Temperate Terrestrial Planets, a large number than detected in any other planetary system.

Astronomers first discovered Three Earth Sized Planets Orbiting the Dwarf star in 2015.On February 22, 2017 astronomers announced four additional around TRAPPIST-1. This work used the NASA SPITZER SPACE TELESCOPE and the very large telescope at Paranal, among others and brought the total number of planets to seven, of which three are considered to be within its Habitable Zone. The others could also be habitable as they may posses Liquid water somewhere on their surface.

An artist Impression of Trappist one system.

What makes this system so interesting?

  • The fact that this system comprises of seven planets ,each of which having the potential to hold life,In fact it is possible that some beings might be living on them . I mean ,who knows?.
  • Its parent star. Yeah? the Ultra Cool dwarf star-TRAPPIST.It is quite smaller than our sun in comparison to surface temperature or gravitational pull that's why it is so interesting to study about such planetary system.

The Future?

Okay, we have found them but what comes next? They are approx 40 Light Years away so we can't just pop up there to say "Hello".Neither we can send a probe there to study the organics of the system.
what astronomers are looking for these days is to read the organics from the radiations coming from the system. More discoveries remain Hidden until the launch of NASA's JAMES WEBB SPACE TELESCOPE which is scheduled to launch in 2018.

Till then? Keep exploring, The world is Beyond our Imagination.
